Renton Rotary Awards
January Teachers of the Month

Scheila Pikes, second grade teacher at Benson Hill Elementary, was selected as one of three Rotary Teachers of the Month for Renton.

Scheila attended California Lutheran University in Thousand Oakes, CA and earned a Bachelors Degree in Liberal Arts and Education. Then she continued her education at Lesley University to obtain a Masters Degree in
Education and Arts. Before moving to Renton, Scheila taught in a bi-lingual classroom in California for six years.

Pike has taught in Renton for 15 years.

Rotary members recognize three Renton School District school teachers each month. Other teachers honored this month include Sherry Rutherford, first grade teacher at Sierra Heights Elementary, and Ben Graeber, language arts teacher at Hazen High School.

As part of the recognition, teachers attend Rotary’s Teacher of the Month recognition luncheon held At Maplewood Golf Course. Each teacher is introduced, makes a brief comment about their school and classroom.

They also receive $200 to be used for classroom supplies, or instructional
materials.
